NATIONAL MAA AWARDS

MAA Certificate of Meritorious Service

The Certificates of Meritorious Service are presented for service to the MAA at the national level or for service to a Section of the Association. The first such awards were made in 1984. At each August meeting of the Association, honorees from roughly six Sections are recognized. The 2024 nominee for the Indiana Section has been selected. The next turn for the Indiana Section will be 2029.

Alder teaching Award

The MAA established the Henry L. Alder Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Beginning College or University Mathematics Faculty Member in 2003 to honor beginning college or university faculty whose teaching has been extra ordinarily successful and whose effectiveness in teaching undergraduate mathematics is shown to have influence beyond their own classrooms.

Two members of the Indiana Section of the MAA, Matt DeLong and Lara Pudwell, have been honored as Alder Award Recipients.

HAIMO Teaching award

In 1991, the Mathematical Association of America instituted the Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Awards for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics to honor college or university teachers who have been widely recognized as extraordinarily successful and whose teaching effectiveness has been shown to have had influence beyond their own institutions.

Matt DeLong from the Indiana Section of the MAA has been honored as a Haimo Award Recipient.
